what you notice

and what you don't

says a lot about who you are.

what do you give your attention to?

"No-Plain Faced Girls- whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is fair, whatever is pure, whatever is acceptable, whatever is commendable, if there is anything of excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy-keep thinking about these things."
-philipians 4:8

A few months ago, I honestly gave my attention to very little. But as my Lord has taken me down a painful, arduous path these past months, small reliefs and beauties have become vitally important.
So I notice the pungent grass in front of the Honey Rock Office, so thick I could see no dirt while face down upon it. I notice the shapes, the negative spaces of sky that tree branches make and how the spaces grow smaller and smaller as spring arrives. I notice the bricks on the quad, changing colors beneath the feet that trample them daily into a lovely misshapen belonging. I notice smiles and all- especially the ones with braces- bring me joy in knowing God is continuing his promise of faithfulness to all his children. I notice truth and beauty meeting, notice the springs of water in the desert, notice the ancient paths where rest is found.

Thank you for this post, and the previous one. You're wonderful Claire.
